women happy drinking

“Oooh, the Lovers! We know what that means!” The whole group giggles with excitement as I begin to tell them how the Lovers pertains to this particular reading.

In the past few months I’ve booked some very cool VIP Tarot Parties, set in beautiful homes  or luxurious LA locations like a secluded beach or swank hotel.  Most of the groups are made up of sophisticated, attractive and successful women looking to have some insight on their lives while enjoying the company of friends and a glass or two of bubbly.

My VIP Tarot Parties usually begin with me getting clarity from the group on their intentions for the day and an explanation on how to get the best readings.  For those that request it, I offer a Mini Manifesting Session prior to the readings to help each of them get clear on what they want to attract and the best way to manifest it. These women aren’t new to the manifesting game, most of them are already living some amazing lives as producers, entrepreneurs, artists, etc…  they just feel stuck, want to get to their next phase or maybe just need to add some passion into the mix.

There are two ways to have a VIP Tarot Party, 1) Set up a private area in which each person rotates to get a short private reading while the rest of the group eats, drinks and mingles.  And for the more open (and brave) 2) The Party is set up  in a group setting, like a living room or large dining table in which everyone is present as each person gets their reading.  In this way, friends get an opportunity to chime in about each person’s reading, sometimes providing further insight to what they believe the card means to the situation.  While both options are fun, the latter is usually more intense, and can create  deeper bonding among friends. There’s usually some crying happening too but surrounded by lots of support and love.

I’ve received some great feedback from Tarot Party attendees, they tell me that weeks and months later they’re still talking about the insight they gained and the fun they had.  I love that! A few of the  groups I now meet with once a year so they can set new intentions and get clarity for their latest projects and passions.

Lately I’ve been noticing a theme with my Tarot clients…

they’ve been coming to me with a strong desire to know what the cards have to say about their current love relationship.  Yes, I know, that’s par for the course for a Tarot Reader/Coach like me.  But these days many of my clients are bringing their partners with them so that I can do a Lovers Tarot Reading.  This is *awesome* because I get a chance to not only see what’s really going on with both sides of the relationship but I can also work with the reactions once the card meanings are revealed.  What do I mean by that?  Well, with one of the couples from a recent Lovers Tarot Reading, the male partner was hesitant about coming to see me because he was dubious about what the cards could possibly reveal about the situation.  Being a man of “logic” he told her he doubted that Tarot cards could tell him anything of value. Nice. But he came because, well, she pretty much insisted.  He immediately changed his tune when he realized that the cards brought up issues that he had been side stepping for a while, like the fact that he felt she was taking him for granted and had lately been spending way more time out with her friends than at home with him.  If he hadn’t come to the Lovers Tarot session he wouldn’t have been able to say how he felt without seeming like he was being a whiny b*yotch.  So what was his “solution” pre Tarot session?  Sulking. And doing the passive aggressive withholding sex thing.  Ummm yaaaa, NEVER a good thing…

Anyway, the result of the readings not only gave them clarity about what was happening and opened up a dialog but also helped to provide some really specific answers on how to fix things between them.   He enjoyed the session so much he even said “Make sure you put that in the Lovers Report!” when the cards revealed she was indeed putting others ahead of him and how it made him feel.   From the readings he learned she needed him to be more straightforward and vocal with his needs and he has seen that by doing this, there has been very positive responses from her (i.e. lots of attention, affection and time).

In another situation, the couple that came to see me seemed at first to be pretty drama free, until the Moon reversed showed up to reveal that one of the partners didn’t have much trust for the other.  Oops .  While the cards also revealed that there was no real reason for not trusting her partner, the Devil  card showed up to tell us that she had some serious trust issues from past relationships that were still plaguing her. But she hadn’t told her current love that she still hadn’t fully healed from these past traumas.  So while one person was blissfully ignorant, the other put on a faux happy face that was hiding some demons.  Through our session they were able to address her trust issues in a real way and create a plan to help her feel more confident about herself and the relationship.   And with the Report that came with the reading, they are able to refer to it and look back at any advice given by the cards.

If you and your love are in need of some clarity and want to take positive action, make an appointment with me now for the Lovers Tarot Reading.

New Year 2014

2014 is almost here.  Are you ready?

As I review 2013 I see an overall theme for my clients. This past year was the time for huge change.  And I mean HUGE.

The Tower, The Death and The Judgment cards came up frequently.  I don’t say that meaning that terrible things happened. These cards show up to tell you that certain areas of your life need assessment and that in many cases, things will change whether you think you’re ready or not.  Many of my clients’ lives were shuffled around last year so that they could change and fix things that just weren’t working anymore.  They got out of situations in love and career that were uncomfortable, made shifts that were necessary and made decisions to move into paths more authentic to them. Some clients took risks and made some major moves getting them closer than ever to living into their ideals.

Wherever you stand in the range of change, I’m sure you agree, 2013 was a significant year.

I believe that the New Year is an exciting time because it gives us a marker to make assessments about our lives.  Big shifts happened over the last year, and its important for us to take a look at what we learned, what we want to leave behind and what direction we want to go into next.

  • Am I supposed to continue with the acting career I DESIRE or go back to that “stable” job in finance?
  • Is that person I’m dating really “THE ONE” or is this relationship heading for a break up?
  • What’s STOPPING me from starting that passion project?
  • Will I finally be able to TRAVEL to Europe this year?
  • Why am I STILL BLOCKED from finding love?
  • Have I really been doing every thing I can to create the SUCCESS I want and deserve?

These are the kinds of questions I hear from clients all the time. And as with every client I work you to find  you true paths and then take action to go for it.

What are you waiting for?

You say you want to have a fully expressed life.  You want that dream career.  That passionate love.   The adventurous  lifestyle.

So what’s stopping you?  Why are you STILL just talking about it? What are the blocks that get in the way of success?  Fear is often a huge obstacle.  Fear of failing.  Fear of looking foolish.  Fear of being rejected.   All these things loom largely in that over thinking head and you feel…paralyzed.

When working with my clients on the issues of fears,  I encourage them to do something every day that is out of their comfort zone.  Small things like saying hello to strangers to larger things like taking an improv class.  Every time they do something that is uncomfortable they stretch and grow and then taking risks become less scary. In fact sometimes they become fun.

If you feel you are ready to push your comfort zone boundaries my client Liz created an awesome program called Wanna Feel Like A Rock Star? This cool workshop not only provides lessons on singing, it helps with self esteem and teaches you to improve your public performance skills and stage presence.   And how fun is that to rock out in the process of removing your fears?

If you Wanna Feel Like a Rock Star contact Liz about her upcoming Meetup 1 Day Workshop and  the 5-Week Wanna Feel Like A Rock Star? Program.  The 5 Week Program is being offered at an INTRODUCTORY SPECIAL for only $190 but spaces are limited so book your spot soon.

ImageMy 14-year old niece is awesome at Photoshop so I hired her to make me some Manifesting Mantras using my BFF’s Vanity Girl Hollywood mirrors.  (Thanks Jordyn!)

What are Manifesting Mantras and whats the connection with mirrors? Well, when we look in a mirror we can choose to see ourselves in a positive light by focusing on what’s amazing and beautiful, or we can focus on what we dislike and make ourselves depressed in the process. Have you ever noticed the way that many lonely, unhappy and financially struggling people talk? What words do they use? What they have accepted as the truth for themselves?  What we choose to see and what we focus on greatly affects our self esteem and how we move and present ourselves in the world.

With Manifesting Mantras you can choose to look in the mirror and tell yourself wonderful positive things about what you see (“I love my body that is unique and special”), what you want to create (“I am in the process of having a successful multi million dollar business”), or what you want to feel (“I choose to share my happiness today”)

A Manifesting Mantra can help you change your outlook and how you feel about your life as you are saying to your subconscious mind, “I am taking responsibility. I am aware that there is something I can do to change.” When you pay attention to your thoughts, you can begin to eliminate the ones creating experiences you do not want in your life.

Twice a day, stand in front of a mirror and repeat your positive affirmation ten times.

This week’s Manifesting Mantra

Always believe something wonderful is about to happen”

If doubts, fears or negative thoughts come up, just recognize them for what they are—old limiting beliefs that want to stay around. Say to them gently: Go away- I no longer need you. And then repeat your positive affirmation again.

During our 3rd week of Love Club (my Ready for Love Manifesting Group) one of the group members had an exciting announcement. “I have a boyfriend now!” she told the rest of the group who was surprised but very happy for her. How did that happen so fast? We were only in Week 3 after all. The truth is I had been working with her in a one on one coaching program (focusing on career issues) for several weeks. During one of our sessions, while making her Life Vision Board, I noticed that she had everything she was dreaming of represented on her board…except any pictures that had to do with Love! Why? I asked. She didn’t even notice, or so she said. When we delved a little deeper it became clear that her negative feelings about past relationships, her own guilt about certain things she did, and her desire to keep her independence was making her subconsciously and consciously push away real relationships. She was in fact currently dating a few guys. One of them sounded pretty promising. A nice, handsome guy who was really sweet to her. Yet she didn’t seem to have much excitement for him. She focused more on another one, who, after hearing about his attitudes and actions, didn’t sound to be very “boyfriendy.”

When I see “blocks” within my clients I suggest, before moving forward, to release those things that keep them from getting what they really want. So I gave her some homework which consisted of doing a little personal inventory and then gave her a releasing ritual. Over the next couple of sessions she said she felt lighter and was getting more clarity about her love life.

By the time Love Club started, just a few weeks later, her energy felt open & positive and she was ready to address her issues. Let me say this is KEY to finding love. You may say that you want love in your life, but if you are still closed and you allow excuses, fear and negative energy to get in your way, you will find it very challenging. During group we did more “work” getting to the bottom of their issues, releasing negative energy, and finding clarity to move towards the love they want.

So it was actually very natural that she started to see that the emotionally healthy guy (who I saw as a great fit for her) was the one she really wanted. And when they were on their 5th date and he asked what she thought about being his girlfriend, she happily said “Yes!” Now they are in a committed relationship and are deliciously healthy and adorable. Drama free, which to emotionally unhealthy people may seem “boring” but to those in a better emotional space, know there is more time and room for amazing positive experiences together. I’m still working with her on career issues as well and let me say, her life is truly magical like a ROCK STAR 😉

We are already in March, which means that you should be well into your Manifesting for the New Year…right?  With most of my clients, we are using this month to focus on Abundance and relationships with Money.   I thought we would start off with creating a simple Mantra for the month to get into an abundant mindset.  What is a mantra?

  1. (originally in Hinduism and Buddhism) A word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation.
  2. A statement that is frequently repeated; a characteristic formula or refrain.

Spend about 5-10 minutes every day repeating this mantra and see how your energy shifts.

Sit in an easy pose.  You can hold your hands in gyan mudra or just rest them on your knees.  Shut your eyes. Inhale and hold the breath in.

Repeat, “I am beautiful, I am blissful, I am abundant.”

Exhale and hold the breath out.

Repeat, “Grace, ease, fearless.” Repeat this sequence for 5 minutes.

“There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way.”

~ Christopher Morley

Almost daily clients come to me seeking advice and guidance about their “life path.” I hear questions like “which direction should I be going towards in my career?” or “what should I be doing with my life?” Even the most confident and ambitious person may come to that cross roads in their life where they no longer feel comfortable with direction their life has taken them. Somewhere along the way, they may have made decisions that were more about being practical and lost track of what really made them happy or why they chose that profession in the first place.

This reminds me of last week, when my BFF Maxine and I had a lovely 3-hour lunch on a Tuesday at our favorite fun sushi spot in West Hollywood. We have weekly appointed “girl time” in which we also incorporate our “co-coaching” business sessions somewhere in the middle of the food, drinks and laughter. On this particular day, we both stopped to acknowledge how fortunate we were to be doing exactly what we wanted in our careers. Ok, so the conversation actually went something like this.

ME: “Hey, isn’t it awesome that we are doing exactly what we love?

HER: “OMG, totally! I am so crushing on my career!” (Yes, even as adult entrepreneurial women we still talk this way) .

Being friends since we were 11, Maxine and I know exactly what makes the other happy, what our true skills are and what motivates us. Because we love proving our own points, we made a list of why we had super-crushes on our careers (when we were in high school this was usually a list of our super-crushes on boys. Oh, who am I kidding. We’ve made crush lists all our lives and we still do).

ME: (as a Tarot Reader and Manifesting Coach/Entrepreneur) I have always loved helping people, using my knowledge of psychology/human behavior, being independent/not having other people tell me what to do, telling other people what to do, using my intuition to see how a situation will lead to an outcome, crisis counseling, creating programs, using Tarot cards, using Law of Attraction, flexible schedule/ability to travel, tied to the celebrity & entertainment world, public speaking, empowering people, lots of social interaction, income that has no salary limits.

MAXINE: (as Founder and Chief of Vanity Girl Hollywood/Brand Ambassador/Entrepreneur) She loves glamour, make up, sparkly things, talking about/creating/surrounding herself in beauty, luxury, using her skills in PR, marketing and branding, international travel, connecting people, celebrities & entertainment, networking, red carpet events, writing, public speaking, flexible schedule, business, and unlimited income potential.

It’s pretty exciting to know that we have created so much happiness + success in our businesses. What’s more exciting is that our businesses continue to grow because they don’t feel like work, so they move (mostly) with ease and grace. The truth is, everyone can create careers that they love. If you know what you want to spend your time doing, where your skills are, and how those skills can help others then you are more than halfway there.

Working with my clients through this process is actually really fun. I start with some basics, which include confidence building which helps to remind them that they can and have already created many things in their lives out of “nothing.” Then we move towards finding out their skills and passions. Just last night I had a 60 minute session with a new client in Boston and helped her carve out a new path for her career. She’s moving away from real estate and going into the parenting advice arena. She’s totally excited and invigorated now and I am excited to see how she progresses. One of my other clients who has been through my manifesting groups as well as individual coaching, is a beautiful super-social woman with pretty impressive flirting skills . She’s also a lover of love and always notices women’s engagement rings. Is it any surprise that she’s crushing on the Love & Attraction Coaching biz we developed for her?  And to find your Career Crush,  you don’t have to have dreams of being an entrepreneur.   I had a client who is tri lingual and has an MBA but she came to realize she wanted to be an Executive Assistant.   Why?  Because she loved supporting powerful people, being the behind-the-scenes hero and she wanted the prestige of  working for a Fortune 500 company.  Plus she said she loved dressing up and working in an office.

The biggest obstacle that stops you from attracting your dream career is not that it doesn’t exist (it does) or that you can’t make money doing what you love (you can). You must first believe that you can do it. But isn’t that amazing that you have control over that? You can change how you feel and your mind set about your career. It’s all up to you.

If you are ready to find some clarity about your life direction let me know how I can help. As you know from reading this, I would love to.

“Watch your thoughts; they become
words. Watch your words; they become
actions. Watch your actions, they
become habits. Watch your habits, they
become character. Watch your
character; it becomes your destiny.”

~ Frank Outlaw

Most of us don’t realize how powerful words are. Every day we go around talking about what we don’t want, what we don’t like and/or what we want to avoid, not realizing that we are actually giving power to those things. By talking about them we give them energy and life. So instead of removing them from our life, we’re bringing them closer. What you focus on expands, so even if you are saying the words “I don’t want” you’re still focusing on that issue. And don’t you notice when you talk about what you don’t want, there’s an “ugly” feeling that comes over you? I know when I talk about what I DO want, I get excited. I get happy. I get moving. That’s the kind of feeling I want. And quite simply, ugly negative feelings are yucky, so I move away from them as much as possible.

This is an especially important point in manifesting. Working with clients, I often hear them tell me what they don’t want. “I don’t want to work so many long hours!” “I don’t want to marry a cheater!” and “I don’ t want to date a younger guy!” That’s fine for getting clarity. I want my clients to know what they want to move away from in order to be clear on what they want to move towards. But once you know what you DON’T want, you really have to let it go. You can’t keep thinking about it. It’s time to locus on the DO WANTS.

For example, I have a really attractive client; she’s loving, intelligent, ambitious and talented. At the time I started working with her she had some blocks about finding a healthy partner. And her biggest don’t want in dating? “I DO NOT want to date a younger guy!” She kept focusing on this, even though I urged her to let it go. She brought it up at every session. So even though she was great at removing her blocks and becoming open, she attracted – you guessed it – a younger boyfriend. But in many ways, it turned out great, because they are still together over a year later. The funny thing is the men who are attracted to her these days (just by being out in the world) are mostly younger guys! Another client of mine focused on being an international traveler. Mind you, at the time she had never been outside of the US except for a trip to Tijuana in college. She talked about it to everyone she could find and eventually attracted travel partners, good advice and great deals. A year and a half later, she’s been to Taiwan, Canada, Spain and Italy.

Try This:

  • Understand that your words generate a vibration that is either positive or negative.
  • When you use the words don’t, not and no, you continue to give more attention, energy and focus to what you are referring to.
  • Write down a list of 10 things that you DO NOT want.
  • Based on what you don’t want, now write down what you DO want.
  • Cross off (burn!) the list of DO NOT wants.
  • Only refer to the DO want list. Focus on this list every day. Get excited about them! Bring them closer to you.

“Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.” ~Dalai Lama

I posted this quote the other day on my Facebook page. Its a phrase I tell my clients all the time, because it is so true. While I whole heatedly encourage going after what you want, sometimes you don’t get exactly what you want because you’re supposed to get something better suited for you. The Wheel of Fortune is actually spinning in your favor, not against it. I’ve had quite a few examples in my life where this has played out. One of the most significant times happened years ago when I really wanted to continue my career in empowering young girls and women. I was so focused on this and had applied for a select few organizations that I felt very drawn to. With one of the places, I had done really well in the first interview for the position as the director of a well respected girls organization. I prepared, I bought the right outfit, I felt confident. But alas, at the time of the final interview I blew it. Not expecting a room full of the organization’s board of directors and staff, I got nervous and I choked. I was devastated. This job was “perfect” for me and it should have been mine. I didn’t really have a back up plan.

I decided to go to Hawaii to visit my sister and her family as a break to console myself, while I tried to figure out what I was going to do next. A little over a week into my trip I got a call, it was from TZONE, The Tyra Banks Foundation, could I come in next week for an interview? Ummm ya! Having heard nothing after 5 weeks after turning in my resume, I didn’t even think I had a chance. I packed my bags and said Aloha to Hawaii.

My first interview was with Tyra’s mom and she was wonderful. I felt connected, confident and pretty sure that I aced it. But then again, that happened with the other job, so what did I know? A day later, I got the call for the 2nd interview and this time it was with Tyra. It was just she and I in a big board room and her huge green eyes staring at me with no smile (excuse me, no smyze) on her face. You think Tyra is intimidating on Top Model? Try interviewing with her for her beloved TZONE, she takes it very seriously and she wants you to know it. Throughout the whole interview, she stared right at me not blinking as if she were trying to see through my eyes into my brain, as she whipped out question after question. I was very nervous. But at the end, she smiled and said “say bye to my mama before you leave” and I KNEW. I got the job. And this job was fantastic. Not only did I get to revamp and run the teen girls empowerment program and camp, I also got to meet and train some amazing professional women who were to be mentors for TZONE. I got to work with the issues that were important to me and I felt so valued. Tyra, her mom and staff were all so warm, exciting and fun -life at the Bankable office never had a dull moment. And the office was just outside of West Hollywood where I live (NOT in Downtown where the other job I thought I wanted was located) so going to work was less than a 10 minute commute . To make it even more exciting, there was a “Hollywood” aspect to this position (hey, I’m a Leo , I am naturally attracted to all things Hollywood and Entertainment) that I didn’t even realize I would love which meant partnering with other celebrities and their organizations,  like the Bruce Willis Foundation, Will and Jada Smith Foundation and a number of other well known celebrity causes. I even got to travel to NYC a few times with Tyra for exciting events and was in an episode of Top Model (very briefly, if you blink you might miss me) where she introduces her staff. I’m not gonna lie-  I loved those aspects of the job too. It was everything I wanted, but so much more. Tyra was also a huge influence on me, inspiring me to be a producer and an entrepreneur. Everything felt “possible.” The Wheel of Fortune had  definitely become my career card.

While its fun to reminisce, my point is, if the Universe doesn’t give you what you think you want, its probably because you are really meant to have something so much better. That’s why when you send out your positive vibes and ask for what you want, always add “I would love this or better” because the Universe has a limitless imagination and the “Better” can be beyond what you could ever dream.
